You can read this entire site without giving us anything. We do not require an account. We do not run comments. We don't sell your data, and we don't have a business model that depends on collecting it.

Nothing, if you just read. No login, no registration, no personal information required.

Your email address, if you give it to us. The newsletter signup form is the only place we ask for personal information. We use it to send you The Rob Report and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.

Aggregate page views. We count how many times pages are viewed so we know what people read. This is a count, not a profile of you.

Standard server logs. Our host records IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp for every request, as every web server does. We use these for security and troubleshooting, and we don't combine them with anything else.

Local browser storage. We store two small preferences in your own browser: whether you have the US-only filter switched on, and the last top story you were shown, so the homepage does not repeat itself. These stay on your device, are never transmitted to us, and are deleted when you clear your browser data.

We do not use tracking pixels or advertising cookies. We do not build behavioral profiles. We do not run comments, so we do not hold comment data. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, employer, or DOT number. We do not collect payment information, because we do not charge for anything.

Running a website means other companies touch the traffic. Ours are:

• Vercel hosts and serves the site.
• Supabase stores the news database and the newsletter list.
• Automattic (WordPress.com / WordPress hosting) serves our original articles.
• Our email provider delivers the newsletter and holds subscriber addresses.

Each of these has its own privacy policy governing its own processing. We share the minimum necessary with each, and we do not sell or rent data to anyone.

Most of what you click here goes to another publisher. Once you leave, you are on their site under their privacy policy, and we have no control over and no visibility into what they collect. We link to them because they wrote the story. That is not an endorsement of their data practices.

We currently run no third-party advertising. The only ads on this site promote other Tea Technologies products, and they are plain links that set no cookies and collect nothing.

If we ever add third-party advertising, we will update this policy before it goes live and say plainly what changes.

Whatever jurisdiction you are in, you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct it.
• Ask us to delete it.
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, from any email.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you those rights explicitly, plus the right to data portability and the right to object to processing. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know, delete, and opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. We keep server logs for a short operational period, then discard them. We keep aggregate page counts indefinitely because they contain nothing that identifies you.

This site is written for people who work in commercial transportation. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under thirteen.

If you contact us with a news tip, we treat that correspondence as journalistic material. We protect our sources. We do not disclose the identity of a confidential source, and we do not voluntarily hand over source correspondence.

If we change this policy, the updated date at the top will change, and the change will be noted at the bottom of this page. We announce material changes in the newsletter.
